Making an LLM speak
where the hardware says no.
A practical investigation into deploying language models and RAG pipelines on machines the industry has already written off: a Core i5 from generations past, no dedicated GPU, 16GB of RAM. No cloud. No API credits. Just constraint engineering.
The infrastructure wasn't chosen. It was inherited.
Nyeera doesn't start from an ideal cluster. It starts from what already exists in clinics, schools and small operations: an ordinary office machine, bought years ago for spreadsheets and email — not for language model inference.
Project Execution Stages
The project will be carried out in incremental and adaptable stages, which may be adjusted based on the results obtained in each cycle.
Base Implementation
Actual installation and implementation of the AI agent within the existing infrastructure (an essential stage and a prerequisite for the subsequent phases).
RAG & Data
Building the Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) architecture with a dedicated data pipeline.
Training & Cognition
Training AI models by applying concepts from the philosophy of communication and psychology.
Optimization & Modularization
Continuous process improvement using cognitive science and the modularization of processing across the overall AI architecture.
Results & Conclusions
Evaluating performance benchmarks, analyzing the feasibility of the adopted solutions, and consolidating case study findings.
Where constraint becomes a design decision
Four choices accounted for most of the gain — none of them exotic, all of them uncomfortable to sustain all the way through.
Aggressive model quantization
Reduced precision so the entire model fits in RAM without swapping, accepting a controlled quality loss in exchange for workable latency.
Lean context by default
Smaller context windows and more selective retrieval, since every extra token has a direct cost in memory and response time.
Small model, specific task
A preference for smaller, domain-focused models instead of a larger generalist model the machine can't sustain.
Explicit memory management
Controlled loading and unloading of pipeline components, so the index, the model and the system never compete for RAM at the same time.
Constraint is not the opposite of applied intelligence.
The Nyeera Project shows that a real share of custom AI use cases don't need the cloud, a GPU or an infrastructure budget — they need a well-defined scope and engineering willing to respect the hardware that's actually there.
